BIG EARS
BigEars by Flat 5 Software is a relatively new player on the ear training software block.
You can download a free evaluation mode version but until you buy your activation key, only the intervals and triads modules can be accessed.
The full version features:
- intervals,
- triads,
- scales and
- advanced ear training lessons on
- seventh chords,
- ninth chords and
- dominant chords.
The program is aimed at the jazz student and includes training on advanced chord structures.
At US$19.95 it represents a fair buy but for me the one off-putting feature about BigEars is the piano sound samples used for playback.
They are full of ringy overtones which makes it difficult to pick out the intervals and triads.
